Question

Hi I am 4 day post op chin implant. External incision. The chin is still wrapped, and the implant looks amazing! even in the bandages i can see the difference, and cant wait. I had a very recessed chin However i am still in too much pain. I am naturally a slow healer, but i am starting to wonder if all has gone right. I still cant eat soft foods, and am living off liquids. I tried eating mashed potatoes but the pain is overwhelming. No signs of infection, no redness or visible bruises

It is normal to have some moderate pain and discomfort in the first few days following placement of a chin implant. But if the pain is excessive, this is abnormal and should be discussed with your surgeon right away. I hope this helps, and I wish you the best of luck with the remainder of your recovery.

It is not unusual that you would still be having pain 4 days after placement of a chin implant.  The pain could last a week or two, but it should be getting better with time.  If you feel the pain is worsening in any way, you should contact your surgeon.

typically her worst pain is in the first 5 days of surgery.  This is usually pretty bad with large or extra-large implants that have been placed.  Follow up closely with you surgeon to ensure that there is not other inflammation or potential infection present.  Most likely this is normal postoperative pain.
