Can this procedure be done without having to be put to sleep?

Although many surgeries can be performed without being put to sleep (i.e. general anesthesia), much more importantly is to go to the surgeon that is most qualified and specializes in the procedure, if not a recognized expert. If s/he performs the procedure best in their hands and their technique under general anesthesia, then the relatively very small risk associated with general anesthesia vs sedation with local anesthesia, is greatly outweighed by the skill and technique of the expert surgeon and his or her surgical team.  Furthermore, there are significant risks associated with sedation with local anesthesia necessary to perform a surgery such as buttock augmentation. Many would argue that these risks are potentially higher than those associated with general anesthesia. Finally, individual patient factors and health status can also determine what type of anesthesia is necessary or better.  Hope this helps.

Hello! In our practice, we do not use general anesthesia for BBL procedures The surgery is performed using epidural anesthesia combined with sedation, which allows the patient to remain comfortable and relaxed during the procedure while avoiding general anesthesia.
