I had liposuction of my abdomen, sides and back done over a year ago. My stomach still indents in the middle and makes it look like I have a pouch in my lower stomach area. What can be done now?
Answer: Liposuction results Dear Ash211, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Liposuction to the Abdomen Thank you for your question. It appears that you may be a candidate for an abdominoplasty. While liposuction does a great job of removing the excess fat from the body, you will still have areas of excess skin. An abdominoplasty would remove the excess skin from the abdomen, create a more youthful appearing umbilicus, and repair the rectus muscles. I recommend meeting with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your goals and for examination.

Answer: Liposuction results To make an assessment on the outcome of a procedure we really need to see proper before and after pictures. If you don’t have before and after pictures then ask your surgeon to forward the ones they took. Try reposting with proper before and after pictures so we have something to compare to. Generally patients should follow up with a provider who did the procedure if they have concerns about the outcome of a procedure. If you want a proper second opinion consultation and then schedule those as a in person consultation with other local board-certified plastic surgeons. To get the most out of the second opinion consultation patients should come prepared with their before and after pictures and ideally a copy of your operative report which is part of your medical record and can be requested from your previous surgeons office. Poor outcomes from Liposuction can be difficult to improve upon but getting a clear understanding of what the problem is requires more information. Treatments may include revision liposuction, fat transfer, a combination of both or occasionally converting the procedure to a skin tightening procedure like a full tummy tuck. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
