I am nearly 3 days out from receiving 30 units of botox in my forehead. I have tingling and cannot sleep due to my heart rate wakening me. I am active and healthy and have never experienced anything like this and am very concerned about long term effects and if this will go away. Please help

Answer: Tachycardia and Botox Botox can migrate and cause distant side effects, which are usually rare. As far as the heart is concerned, cardiovascular side effects have included arrhythmia(tachycardia is an arrhythmia) and myocardial infarction(heart attack), some with fatal outcomes. Some patients had risk factors including cardiovascular disease. You should contact your PCP or, better yet, a cardiologist to discuss your concerns and have an examination. jlr

Answer: Panic Attack You are likely having a panic attack and can spare yourself a day in the ER and a huge medical bill if you can slow your thoughts, focus on your breathing and let go of fearful thoughts about your botox treatment. I promise you that botox does not cause a rapid heart rate but panic and guilt over it can. Please don't substitute my advice for that of your primary care physician but your symptoms are classic for hyperventilation and anxiety attack. It happens to strong people too and is just a shame when it leads to unnecessary medical treatment. This will go away when you relax, breathe and sleep.
