What can be done about thin enamel? (Photo)

Question

A few of years ago I had porcelain veneers on my front teeth to fix a chip . It has been about ten years and my enamel is very thin. My teeth look translucent and you can see through the veneers. I am also very sensitive to cold and hot drinks. I am very embarrassed of this and I don't like to smile. Can this be fixed?

If you have thin enamel and lots of translucency, you can substitute the enamel by 3 methods:Dental bonding, porcelain veneers, or lumineers!If you need to straighten teeth, first do starightening of your teeth with orthodontics, then do cosmetic dentistry!The stongest in your case will be porcelain veneers with an expert dentist. I would recommend first that you straighten your teeth with Invisalign. Then I would remove your existing veneers and replace them with a more opacious veneer that is less translucent. They should be able to mask out your underlying tooth and eliminate  the problems that you have with your current  veneers.  By doing the Invisalign first, the new veneers can be made uniform in thickness and will look much better.

This is not a simple question to answer because teeth are thin for various reasons. Often front teeth wear on the backside because they are too upright and bang against the lower teeth ever time we chew. This is resolved by tipping the teeth forward using orthodontics. It is unlikely that your veneers are wearing unless they were made of bonding material; so if the teeth are sensitive, I would first look into the 'occlusion'.
