What is this rash on my incision line? Four months post-op tummy tuck. (photos)

Question

I am four months post-op from a tummy tuck. This rash started about two weeks ago and has slowly spread and is now on the other hip incision line. I've been prescribed two antibiotics by my ps but they are not helping and now I'm having a different rash spreading all across my body. The first picture is of the rash on my incision line. The second two are of the new rash that occurred three days after starting antibiotics.

I agree with Dr. Gotlieb...your initial rash appears to be a contact dermatitis. Perhaps you started using something new (cream, lotion, etc.) in that area or you are growing sensitive to the elastic in your compression garment? In either case, most of these can be managed with topical steroid creams and/or Benadryl. The second rash may be due to antibiotic use. Please see your primary care doctor or dermatologist to help you get this rash under control! Good luck and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I have seen these rashes before which did not respond to normal antibiotics.  They are sometime resistant staph (MRSA).  I would suggest you are seen by an infectious disease specialist and a dermatologist.  It could also be allergic in nature.  The second rash definitely sounds like the dermatologist would be of help.

You need immediate referral too dermatologist for total body rash. Very doubtful the TT was the cause. Need to rule out other causes, since the TT was over 4 months ago. Follow up would be nice.

The rash on your abdomen looks like it may be a topical reaction to something, perhaps ;your compression garment if indeed you are still wearing one. The other might be from the antibiotics.  Maybe a visit to your primary doc or a dermatologist is in order. All the best. Thanks for your question and photos.
