Regret buccal fat removal - how to fix it? (photos)

Question

Hi, I’m 31 and had buccal fat removal on one side of the face to make it more symmetrical. The surgeon removed too much fat and I already regret it. If I do facial fillers to fix and if I get it done repeatedly, how will this affect my skin and face in the long term? Is it best and more natural-looking to do a fast transfer? With fat transfer can I achieve a look that does a good job of filling out the hollow appearance in the buccal area or is this difficult to achieve?

Hello, sorry to hear you are having a hard time. If there is some asymmetry after a buccal fat pad removal there are a number of ways to address this. Buccal fat could be removed from the other side to achieve symmetry, or volume could be added back to the side you already had surgery on. Options generally available for this type of thing include fat grafting, or certain types of fillers that are available off-the-shelf if you are an appropriate candidate. If you are unhappy after a surgery such as this, and you feel comfortable with the surgeon that did it, you could always go to them and ask about revisions etc. Most surgeons are committed to having happy patients. If you feel uncomfortable with your surgeon, you could always seek a second opinion. Often, topics in surgery are too complex to parse out in a format such as this and the best route is to see a qualified plastic surgeon in person.
