Correcting a low ear piercing is simple to fix. However, there are some details that need to be followed. This procedure is a 20 minute procedure in the office under local anesthesia, where the hole is cut out and sutured. However, if done by an inexperienced surgeon, if the hole is close to the bottom of the earlobe or completely torn through, you can end up with a notch or indent at the bottom of your earlobe. After 3 months you can have your ear re-pierced but it should be in a slightly different location.

Great question. You can absolutely have the area repaired with a simple in office procedure under local anesthesia. With proper repair technique in multiple layers, the scar tissue formed should be more than adequate to support the weight of lighter stud ear rings. After allowing the repairs area to heal for 6-8 weeks, you can have the areas re-pierced (I also perform this myself at no additional charge) and should have minimal or no visible scar present. However, since the repaired area will never be as strong as the original lobule tissue, you'll want to avoid large/heavy ear rings to avoid recurrence of the same issue. Best of luck!

Hi, your pierced ear can be closed and re-pierced after 6 weeks.  I shouldn't be directly in the exact incision line but a millimeter or two adjacent is fine.  I often like to re-pierce the ear myself.  Best of luck!

After closing a pierced ear, it is possible to re-pierce the ear and this is usually not done in the same spot where the piercing was closed, if possible.  It is usually best to try and re-pierce the ear in tissue that was not affected by the surgery because this unaffected tissue will be stronger.  In your case, it sounds as if you want the re-pierced point to be different than where it currently is, so this should not be a problem.  I normally wait about 8 weeks after closing the pierced ear before re-piercing it.   

The current pierced location and scar tissue can be fully excised and then re-pierced at a later date.  This should be much closer to your goals.  It can be done under local anesthesia in the office.  Best wishes.Wirth Plastic Surgery

Sure!  I would recommend closing up the original ear piercing first.  This is done by using a very small round punch (looks like a cookie cutter) that removes the old piercing and the inner skin lining and then suturing the area with several small sutures in the front and back of the ear lobule.  Once the closure has healed, you can have the ear re-pierced in a new location.
