Question

I picked my pimple even though it wasn't ready and kept Going at it until it got the way it is, then I kept putting toothpaste on it cause I thought that would help. I have a picture of it.

You have PIH and rubor following a superficial injury to the skin. Local wound care followed by skin lighteners to help improve the color are appropriate. Melarase creams can help even out the dark discoloration. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles

From the photo you provided, the skin looks to still be inflamed.  At this point you should stop applying the toothpaste, and try over-the-counter Hydrocortisone.  If the skin does not smoothen out with this, you may need a prescription strength corticosteroid.  Your skin is also developing a darker color from the irritation, called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.  You can try over-the-counter skin lightening creams after the irritation is treated, but they are usually not very effective.  If you see a Dermatologist for a corticosteroid prescription, you may want to ask for a prescription for a bleaching cream too.  Again, I would treat the pigmentation after the irritation is resolved.You should also wear sunblock and absolutely not allow your face to tan.  This would make the spot darker and harder to treat.
