Is it normal to be able to feel an anterior saline implant valve?

Question

I've had my saline under the muscle implants (which were placed through the aereola)for about 2 and 1/2 years now ...recently my left breast (filled 50cc less than right) has been more and more uncomfortable and not as firm as the right. A few days ago I began experiencing a localized pain in the left breast on its top area (especially prevalent when I lay a certain way or press in that area).I also feel either an air bubble or the valve just below my aereola(I dont feel this on the right side)

The valve in a saline implant creates a very slight prominence that is generally completely camouflaged by even a modest amount of soft tissue coverage. Physical exam would clarify the specific issue.

It is possible to feel the valve of the implant if your skin is thin or you have minimal breast tissue, but it is somewhat uncommon.  It may be something else.  You should get it checked out by your plastic surgeon.  It's possible that you may have a partial deflation which is causing your symptoms.

Thank you for your question.It is not uncommon to be able to feel the anterior valve site of saline implants if the tissue is thin on top of the implant. Depending on your own particular soft tissue thickness (amount of native breast tissue and muscle) covering your implant, the anterior fill valve of your saline implant may be palpable. Of course this also can vary with your weight, your menstrual cycle and with time since surgery, pregnancies, etc...Don't worry but keep track of the area and any symptoms or change in appearance. If your symptoms persist or your notice a change in the appearance of your breast make a follow up appointment with your plastic surgeon.

You could be feeling the valve, or a fold in the implant.  Follow up with your Plastic Surgeon for an exam.  Best to you!
