Hello, thank you for your question. This should be considered on a case by case basis. Because IUDs have a hormonal component, removal may be considered to reduce the risk for venous clots. If you have a personal or family history of blood clots or have another medical condition that increases your clotting risk, your PS may recommend that your IUD be removed prior to surgery. Even after its removal, the effects of the IUD can remain in your body. Recommend that you ask your gynecologist if you should remove the IUD before lipo and BBL and when to reinsert after lipo and BBL.
