Coolsculpting Back of Legs...?

Question

Will Coolsculpting work on the back of the leg over hamstrings? Not the banana roll area. I got that done and it worked well. I am referring to the area between banana roll and above the back of knees. I also got Coolsculpting on my inner thighs and it left the area just below bulging out a bit. If I lay on my back with feet on the ground, I do have enough fat there where I can pinch a couple of inches. I am sure the applicator will fit, but I am just concerned about waviness. Thoughts?

Physicians can use CoolSculpting by Zetliq off-label but should discuss this with you , that there can be waviness, indentations, and even a lack of response when treating the back of the thigh. The flat applicator may be best for this area but patients interested in having fat reduction of the posterior thigh would have to be fitted by their doctor to determine if it would be appropriate.

There are a couple of different applicators that can be used for this area depending on the contour of the fat/tissue. It is always best to come in for a consultation so that the area can be assessed and the best treatment plan can be customized to your needs. Indentations can occur if placement/choice of the applicator is not ideal, so it is recommended that you are evaluated in person to determine if you are a candidate for treatment.

I am assuming that you mean the back of the thighs, rather than the calves.  We can and do use CoolSculpting there.  Zeltiq has recently introduced a new, flat applicator called the "coolfit."  This tends to work well for the thighs, without leaving a bulgy area.  

	You may also want to consider focal liposuction if you have a small bulge to address on your inner thigh.

Without a physical examination it would be impossible to say if you are a candidate for Coolsculpting in the area you are concerned about. That area, as you descibe it, is generally not conducive to Coolsculpting. You may do better with Tru-sculpt, Exilis or Liposuction. Consider having a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon that can discuss Liposuction, SmartLipo with you as well as non-surgical treatments such as Coolsculpting, Tru-Sculpt, Exilis, etc. Good luck.

CoolSculpting is currently used for love handles, abdominal fat, and back fat. Newer applications are on the way like arms, neck, legs, etc.

It is really important to understand the advantages and limitations to the CoolSculpting procedure. I have had GREAT success with this procedure as long as it is applied to the right candidates. I must be able to grab a hold of the fat you want to get rid of for the procedure to be successful. The "coolfit" applicator has been a great addition to my practice for both arms and legs.

	It is most important for you to be evaluated by a "Board Certified Plastic Surgeon" who does both traditional liposuction and CoolSculpting. After an exam your surgeon should be able to tell you which method would meet your expectations.

CoolSculpting may be performed on the thighs for successful non-invasive fat removal. I agree that the new CoolFit applicator is well suited to treat these areas. We have not seen contour irregularities in the patients we have treated on the thighs and its posterior upper aspect. Please discuss your plan for treatment and expectations thoroughly with your doctor.
