Latisse can be placed on the eyelashes following surgery provided that you have healed and are at least 4 weeks after surgery. You should always check with your surgeon to determine if this is appropriate for your individual case.
I have patients who do use Latisse after having cataract surgery and there aren't any issues because Latisse isn't put into the eye, but rather along the top eyelash line only. I would recommend that you ask the physician who did your cataract surgery though, simply because he/she may not want you touching your eyes too much right after, so he/she may want you to wait a specific timeframe after the surgery to begin using Latisse.
Latisse should help you regrow your eyelashes after they were pulled out with your extensions. That is one of the reasons I recommend against having lash extensions applied. The good news is they should grow back much faster if you start using Latisse.
Latisse should continue to work after 3 years as long as the product continues to be applied. Although there will be phase when lashes will fall out, the new growth phase should follow.
Latisse does tend to grow the lower lashes as well. The upper eyelashes will transfer some of the product to the lower eyelashes.
After you have achieved your lash potential, you can switch to a twice weekly maintenance schedule. --
Latisse is the only drug approved by the FDA for growing eyelashes. Interchanging other similar drugs or drugs in the same families may be reasonable, but the truth is they have not been tested for that purpose.
Latisse has several side effects reported on the website. However, acne is not listed as one of the side effects.
