Fraxel laser treatments are not specifically known to cause worsening of the underlying skin condition unless it is used for the wrong reasons. I have been working with Fraxel for more than 10 yrs and I was one of the pioneers of the fractional laser technology when I was at Harvard. it definitely improves fine lines and wrinkles. some of my patients get their entire mid section and thighs and legs treated with it with great results. not sure exactly what happened. but perhaps you can post your before And after pics for us to better assess whats going on
This is difficult to answer without before and after pictures and needs an in-person evaluation. A combination approach is needed to get the most improvement with neck wrinkles. I recommend fillers, botox, and lasers or radiofrequency. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. We often improve neck wrinkles with thermage, ultherapy, microneedling/PRP. Best, Dr. Emer.
Hi Donna,It is almost impossible to evaluate your neck as I would need to see a before picture. I would recommend an in-person evaluation with the doctor that performed your Fraxel for you. I am certain that they took excellent before pictures so you can easily compare and see exactly what is going on. I do the Fraxel for neck rejuvenation all the time and have never seen a case where a Fraxel made the neck worse. Fraxel works on the skin by building collagen in the treatment area. In general, my neck rejuvenation philosophy starts with proper use of sunscreen, proper neck cream, Fraxel and possibly Botox to refresh the entire look of this very thin skinned area. Good luck, Dr. Downie
I don't know what is worse about the neck because you don't show before pictures and don't describe what you think is worse. Possible side effects from the treatment would be PIH, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Other than that, I've not seen worsening of wrinkles, skin tone or quality with the Fraxel laser.
This is unlikely due to your Fraxel treatment. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a Doctor to determine cause. Best, Dr. Emer
Yes, there can be some swelling after Fraxel. I recommend following up with a cosmetic dermatologist for after care. We use a specific protocol of exfoliation, hydration, and moisturizing along with protection after laser treatments. PDT therapy can calm any inflammation. I always combine...
