Dermatologists have told me that it's normal to shed 100 hairs every single day. I used to shed up to 40 hairs daily prior to hair loss. For the past year, I've lost on avg, 200 hairs every single day. When I tell Derms that I used to lose 150 hairs every day for several years, they make it seem as though that is near the "normal" average of 100 hairs. I do not believe that shedding 100 hairs every day is normal. I feel that women w/o hairloss might lose apx 100 briefly, such as around periods.

Finasteride blocks "a byproduct" of testosterone, not testosterone itself. The byproduct (5-alpha-dehysdrotestosterone) is what causes male pattern hair loss. It is ok to take it if your doctor recommended it. There is no real evidence that this medication causes impotence.
