I had bilateral mastectomy and breast reconstruction with silicone implants. I am considering having surgery to change the size of the implants since I found them to be too big for my frame.

Hi, there. If you feel that the implants are too large for you, you can exchange them to smaller ones. Patients change implants when they want to go larger or smaller. It is not uncommon. You should have consultation with board-certified plastic surgeon who will discuss with you all the options, risks, and limitations of the revision surgery. Best wishes.

You can opt to downsize your implants.   your PS will also need to address the skin envelope as this may needed to be  "tightened" up.  please visit with a board certified PS to learn more about your options.

To answer your question, it is very acceptable and not uncommon for patients to desire a change in implant size down the road after reconstruction is complete.

	After all, with a mastectomy, the size/shape/symmetry of breast must be reconstructed.   Once a breast mound is reconstructed and symmetry achieved, some patients desire improvement in shape or symmetry.   This is where "cosmetic" enhancements can offer patients more pleasing results, such as change in implant size.

	It is important to be realistic in what surgery can achieve and also understand that each procedure carries the risk of loss of the reconstruction or potential implant complications.
