2.5 post op, do I have belly button necrosis? (photos)

It does appear that you may be having some wound healing issues, particularly some dehiscence of the wound around the belly button. Make sure you follow up with your operating surgeon so he or she can recommend the proper treatment for you. Good luck!

Everyone heals differently and at different rates. You do have have challenging areas, but no major necrosis is apparent. I would continue with local wound care as per your doctor and be sure to keep all of your post-op appointments .

Hello,It does look like your belly button is taking a little longer. The redness may be a low grad infection or just irritation. The area along the lower incision has some redness  too in the middle. You should see your plastic surgeon about the type of wound care she recommends, to help these areas heal up the best.good Luck

Your belly button is having some healing issues, but doesn't look like a complete loss.  This will heal, but may result in thinker scars.

it looks like some of the belly button has become necrotic causing the wound edges to split. Most of the belly button looks well vascularized. You will need some local wound care to help this along - your PS should be aggressive about this. 

From what I can see in your pictures it looks like you have some separation and possibly a small amount of necrosis at the one and three o'clock positions of your belly button. Overall, the belly button looks alive. Discuss your concerns with your surgeon. An in person examination is needed to give any truly meaningful advice.

There are different levels of belly button necrosis.  Complete necrosis at 2.5 weeks would look dark and feel leathery and would need debridement and reconstruction after healing.    Fortunately you don't have this!  You do seem to have some areas of delayed healing which usually take care of themselves, carefully follow your surgeon's instructions to make this heal the fastest.  When washing your belly button be careful not to leave water in the depths of your belly button.  This can cause that "stinky" smell and delay healing.  Gently  and carefully dry with  cotton or gauze.  See your surgeon often to monitor the healing.
