I am 2 weeks post op tummy tuck. Part of my drain ball broke off inside the ball, will it be OK? (photo)

I had a full tummy tuck almost 2 weeks ago , I had 3 drains and one has been removed this past week. I now have two left but on my right drain ball the little plastic part on the inside where the fluid comes in broke off and is now inside the ball. I have a follow up appointment in 4 days , will the drain be ok like that?

It's difficult to asses from your photo.  If the drain is able to remain squeezed closed and is continuing to collect fluid then it is working and should be fine.  I encourage you to discuss the situation with your surgeon's office and let them determine if they would like you to come in earlier based on your circumstances.

Thank you for your question. Generally, as long as the drain is holding suction (meaning the little grenade is able to compress), and fluid is being drawn out, then there is nothing that you need to do prior to your appointment. Sometimes patients get creative and have to tape various parts of the drain to ensure that they work. It may be best just to give your Plastic Surgeon's office a call so he or she can better advise you. Best of luck!
