What scar is left with neck excision? I’ve seen a zig zag scar that looked pretty bad.

Thank you for your question.  This is typical referred to as a Z plasty, this may only be used on someone this has a big neck, who then wants an L shaped neck.  The most common scars would be behind the ears, where the muscle and skin would be tightened.  This doesn't leave you with a scar with a visible.  All The Best 

 A zig-zag (technically called a Z-plasty) is an infrequently used technique to remove excess skin of the anterior neck.  It is a procedure of last resort in my practice as I too do not like the appearance of the scar.  I would first exhaust all more traditional neck lifting/ tightening avenues such as traditional necklift with incisions behind the ears, muscle tightening, and non-invasive skin tightening such as INFINI RF first.
