I was to have a mini facelift next week. Yesterday they canceled it, so you can imagine how bummed out I’ve been. After a lot of weight loss my neck looks like a sagging turkey wattle and I’m extremely insecure about it. They were doing the mini lift under general and because I’m on prescription meds (10/350 hydrocodone for lumbar pain, take as needed, and for 8 years been on 2mg Xanax at bedtime for insomnia), the anesthesia team declined general and this surgeon doesn’t do it under local.
Answer: Facelift under local anesthesia Yes, definitely- these procedure can be performed under local anesthesia. In my practice, we exclusively perform facial rejuvenation procedures under local anesthesia with oral sedation- its safe and you need to research doctors in your area that can do it this way.

Answer: All face/neck lifts should be done only under local . Tumescent local is such a great anesthesia for face/neck lifts and if supplemented with a little iv sedation for complete comfort is the ideal way to do them. It is so much safer and easy to undergo with minimal complications .

Answer: Mini face lift expectations Thanks for your question. Of course, each patient's case is unique and there may have been some reason the Anesthesia team did not feel safe during your operation under general. But, yes, mini-facelift procedures are very commonly done under local anesthesia (we do it that way all the time in our practice). I would search around your area and call the office before you make the effort to visit in person. Best wishes

Answer: Can Facelifts Be Done Under Local Anesthesia Only? Yes! Yes, they can be done under local. Much of this depends upon the patient's anxiety, pain tolerance, bladder control, and type of facelift needed. I perform 95% of my facelifts, mostly mini-incision and SMAS type, in the office under local with oral sedation usually. Deeper plane facelifts with larger incisions are typically done under deeper anesthesia. In NC, I'm not sure how to help you find someone of good reputation that does them under local, but I would call around and do an internet search. Looking at your pictures, another option is a non-surgical lift with some conservative neck liposuction (e.g. Facetite/Necktite). Best regards.

Answer: Can I get a mini facelift with local anesthesia? Need to find surgeon that performs this often and uses local. Hi, I have performed many facelifts for over 30 years and have performed many minimally, invasive SMAS facelifts. I perform the vast majority (well over 90 %) of these minimally, invasive SMAS facelifts under local anesthetic in about 90 minutes. I did want to draw your attention to the fact that your chin is extremely weak. A weak chin creates an imbalance making the nose appear larger, the mid face top heavy and the lower face look short that de-emphasizes the lips and allows early formation of a double chin. Chin augmentation using a chin implant will add projection to the chin creating harmony and balance to the lower face. I have found placement of a silastic chin implant, through a small curved incision under the chin (also allows excess skin removal) to be very safe, quick and highly effective. I perform chin implant surgery using local anesthetic as well, often combined with the minimally invasive SMAS facelift. "Jowls” these are sagging facial tissues and the main indication for some form of a SMAS facelift. The underlying SMAS layer, of the face, must be dissected, lifted, trimmed and re-sutured (not merely folded or suspended with threads or sutures that will not last). The excess skin is then removed and the facelift incisions closed. My most popular SMAS facelift is the minimally invasive, short incision SMAS facelift that has all the benefits of more invasive facelifts (traditional, mid-face, deep plane, cheek lift and subperiosteal facelifts) but with these added benefits: very small incisions and no incisions extend or are placed within the hair. minimal tissue dissection = less bruising and swelling = rapid recovery ( several days instead of weeks or months with the more invasive type facelifts mentioned) can be performed in 90 minutes or less, with or without general anesthesia no incisions within the hair = no hair loss excess fat can be removed from the face and neck excess skin removed from the face and neck cheeks, chin and jaw line can be augmented with dermal fillers (I prefer Restylane Lyft) or facial implants most patients fly back home to parts all over the world in as little as 3 days post-op I combine facial shaping with every facelift procedure. When jowls are present, these should be done in concert and not alone or separately in order to create a naturally, more attractive face. Hope this helps.
