Does inguinal hernia surgery requires a catheter?

Thank you for your question. When I perform an abdominoplasty I often repair an abdominal hernia as well. For these cases the patients will get a urinary catheter. 

Thank you for the question. I am assuming you are referring to a urinary catheter;  this is generally not necessary during hernia surgery repair. I do not know what you mean by an “external catheter”. Best to run these questions by your chosen surgeon for accurate/relevant information. Best wishes.
