The type of Leukemia I have will never go away. My levels will be normal, as long as I take my daily chemo pill. My oncologist released me to have my gallbladder out because she was pleased with how my Leukemia levels were. Does this make me ineligible for a breast augmentation or mommy makeover?
Answer: Breast Augmentation Plastic Surgery is elective surgery and patient safety is paramount. Having a chronic disease is not an automatic exclusion for surgery, but I would recommend a discussion with your oncologist regarding the safety of considering elective surgery. If you have a plastic surgeon in mind, he or she can also speak to the oncologist to discuss what the surgery involves, as most oncologists may not understand the details of the surgery.

Answer: CML and cosmetic surgery If the CML is stable and your clotting parameters normal you may be able to have your chosen procedure after oncologist clearance and thorough discussion and evaluation by a boars certified plastic surgeon. I would prefer to avoid implants and long procedures. Best wishes.

Answer: Could be OK if your oncologist releases you and provides any necessary special instructions I recommend an in person evaluation by a plastic surgeon to be measured and discuss your goals. After I measure and discuss goals with my patients, we then look at pictures of former patients with similar measurements with different size and style breast implants. My patients tell me that this process is very helpful in determining what size breast implant is right for them. They also get to see what they would look like when the implants have fully dropped and fluffed and in clothes. You get to see actual results and the surgeon's experience and not a virtual idea of what can be achieved. Dr. Ted Eisenberg, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author.
