Fat Transfer - is it best to find a doctor that overfills?

Absorption occurs in 100%!of the cases, depending on the technique the survival rate may widely vary from 20-60% depending on the patient quality of fat, health conditions, background of Bariatric surgery, intake of meds to lose weight (ozempic ) or to burn fat, donor area, nutritional status of the patient which leads to the quality of fat, aging of course plays an important role in absorption and the technique used to harvest, technique to clean it and technique to inject. So it depends on many many factors not only the surgeon side.
It is recommended to over correct or overfilled about 10-20 percent only to prevent the patient looks deformed for 1 month for that reason some patients end with almost no visible results.
In my opinion it is better to have a second procedure than end up overfilled and have and irreversible bad result.

When it comes to fat grafting overfilling is not always the answer , there is a limit to how much fat can be placed in one setting .This will affect how much of it will survive since when you are moving the fat from one place to the other it has to form new blood supply in the recipient area so it has to be in contact with vascular surfaces. The more you fill the harder it will be for fat cells to be in contact with vascular surfaces and thus a lot of it might not make it . In certain circumstances your surgeon might recommend multiple sessions to achieve the desired effect. The face is a little more forgiving since it has a robust blood supply but still limits should be respected. Overfilling makes for great on table results but might not be good for you long term.
