I’m reading patients say that their garments are causing them to lose fat after a bbl procedure . Can a patient wear a thong compression garment just for the stomach and back , and leave the buttocks free after the procedure ?

Answer: BBL compression garment Thank you for your question! For my patients having a BBL procedure, I recommend they wear a specific BBL garment that we provide for the first 3 weeks post surgery, 24/7, then an additional 3 weeks at night only. This garment is made specially for patients having a BBL procedure. It gives compression to the areas that liposuction was performed, and has a different material over the buttocks, that does compress the area. I recommend discussing specific post op instructions with your plastic surgeon. Best of luck!

Answer: After BBL, is it ok to wear a compression garment on the areas where lipo was performed on the stomach? I would ask your plastic surgeon about garments and the duration of wear, because each plastic surgeon will have a different protocol. The patients who tend to have healing issues with larger volume liposuction procedures tend to be the ones who do not wear the compression garments at all, wear them very inconsistently, or do not wear them snugly covering all areas of liposuction. Every surgeon will have his/her own preferences as to recovery for specific procedures. I have my patients wear a compression garment (faja) covering all areas treated with liposuction 24/7 except to shower for 4 weeks post op. This helps ontrol swelling as the compression on your tissues helps your body to reabsorb the edema fluid that accumulates in the tissues after any procedure. This can take quite some time to happen without help from the compression garments. It also helps improve contour. Compression helps to keep the tissues adherent to the underlying structures while healing, this can help prevent the wrinkled skin appearance that can happen when the tissues heal in ways we don't want them to.
