Prolapsed lacrimal gland repair. Is this a failed surgery? (Photo)

This photo is 6 weeks post op. I'm concerned that the lacrimal gland was not actually repositioned as intended. It was supposed to be sutured behind the brow bone, but I can clearly see and feel the gland through my eyelid. Is this a failed surgery?

It does look like you still have the prolapsed lacrimal gland.  The gland is repositioned up under the bone and held in place with a few sutures.  It is possible that the sutures did not hold.  Were you very swollen after the surgery?   Was the surgery done only for the gland? See an oculoplastic surgeon who deals with this on a regular basis.

Only you and your surgeon know what the deformity was prior to surgery and what was the objective of the surgery.  I would recommend that you discuss the outcome with your surgeon and what was done during the surgery and attempt to reach a consensus on the result and plan for correction.  Good luck.
