How to prevent an eyelid scar from external chalazion incision? (Photo)

Question

I got an incision for my one-month-old chalazion yesterday not concerning the doctor will cut it open from outside.. Now i'm lefted with a small depressed mark on my upper lid :( About the chalazion, doctor said there were no pus in it (that it had formed a nodule) and advice steroid injection next time.. But now my most concern is the scar, I don't want to have scar from this excision. What should I do to prevent it? Thank you..

At that point it will not likely be that noticeable.  If the concern persists, a scar revision can be very helpful.  Injections for chalazia are the way to go as a first treatment option instead of surgery for this very reason.

Anytime the skin is cut, a scar will result. It will take a full year for the scar to mature, so give it time to heal. If issues remain, discuss with your surgeon.

I advise you to avoid steroid injections to the scar unless it starts to get lumpy. Steroid can make the skin thin and atrophic and then the vessels will show through excessively. Most eyelid scars end up doing very well. Silicone gel scar treatment (a very small amount of gel) may help the scar to mature faster.

Hi. It looks like you had an external chalazion removal. These usually heal well as long as the entire chalazion was removed. The final appearance is also dependent on your individual healing process. Your surgeon should have prescribed an antibiotic/ anti inflammatory ointment to use for the next week or two.
