How long does it take for cartilage grafts to heal after a revision rhinoplasty?

I would like to know how long it takes for the grafts to become secure, where they won't easily shift or move. Do they ever fully fuse with the surrounding tissue/cartilage?

Dear cincyredsfanIn my experience, it takes at least 2 weeks for a basic level of stability with most grafts. At 6-8 weeks, most small grafts are set in place and at 3 months they are firmly in place. Shifting of grafts is a multi-factorial matter. small tip onlay grafts that are sutured to tip cartilage don't move easily. large dorsal onlay grafts can move if not stabilized or if pocket is not dissected properly even weeks post op. It can take several weeks for adequate scar tissue to develop to limit the risk of the implants to shift. Most are secure with sutures anyway.

This is not an easy question to answer.There are so many types and techniques of grafting as well as so many issues/situations having to do with the particular patient that  I might be giving you the wrong advice without know more.Sorry.
