I am a diligent cleaner of my teeth. I brush 2 or 3 times a day and floss regularly. Often there is a sour, bitter, metallic, unpleasant taste in my mouth. If I miss a day of flossing my teeth, the area around my dental crown quickly develops a bad odor. Looking at a picture of the inside of my mouth, you can see that the metallic base of the crown is quite visible. This is the area that stinks. Often the unpleasant taste will persist even after cleaning. Can a dentist fix this problem?

Yes, it is possible to drill through an EMAX crown. need a special bur ideally an an adept clinician with good skills. There is always the risk of weakening the porcelain and possible fracture, but that is pretty rare.
Without any xrays, it is hard to say, but I can suggest you change that crown and you will not need to touch the gums, that way they would be even, and looking healthy, taking x rays in different angles would help, to see the crown adjustment also, Hope this helps.
Hi:Depending on where the chip is, you might be able to get a composite filling. However if the chip on the cusp most likely you either need an onlay or a crown.Best,Dr. Maddahi
