How common is it for surgeons to use 3D imaging for procedures? (photos)

Question

Hi, I am 22 and would like to undergo some sort of facial contouring procedure to enchance my appearance. However, I would like to find a surgeon who uses 3D imaging technology to simulate what the cosmetic outcome would look like. I want to make sure my surgeon and I are on the same page, and that I like the simulation before going through with the procedure. how common is it for surgeons to use 3D imaging?

3D imaging simulates a desired result....it does not predict the operative result. It is used to visualize the desired changes and ensure that the patient and surgeon are on the same page. 
However, the simulated desired result is made up only of pixels and does not take into account the influence of underlying muscle and bone, or the laxity of the skin. The simulated result is not always achievable. It is basically "photoshopping". There is no implied warranty. However, it is quite a useful tool.
Shop around your area. I'm sure you will find a plastic surgeon who utilizes this technology.
