2nd Degree Burns after CO2 Laser? (Photo)

In contrast to adult wound healing, the gestational fetus has the ability to heal skin wounds without scarring. When adult skin suffers a second degree burn that reaches into the dermis layer, it generally will result in scarring. If the CO2 laser (Lutronic eCO2) leaves a second degree burn after laser resurfacing of the face, why is it that patients are not left with severe hypertrophic scarring after they heal?Doesn't burnt skin lose moisture retention abilities/sebaceous gland function?
