My 13 year old chipped half her front tooth, who do I need to seek for help, a regular dentist? A specialist? Can it be repaired? Will she need special treatment through her lifetime?
Answer: Poor young lade Yes, a regular family general dentist can fix that tooth. Xray will be taken to see if the nerve is exposed and involved. If not, a white filling will do for the meantime. As she gets older, she will need a crown as that white filling will not last for her entire life. if the nerve is involved, then a root canal therapy and a crown will be indicated. Either way, both route are easy fixes, no worries.

Answer: Dental Bonding Can Repair a Chipped Tooth In a young person or a teenager, a chipped front tooth is often best repaired through cosmetic dental bonding. In the hands of a skilled cosmetic dentist, one who is comfortable with the bonding procedure, the repair can look natural - so natural in fact that no one can tell the tooth has been bonded. I would use this method for my child's tooth. In your area, I suggest you ask around, or go on to aacd.com and find a dentist in your area. When you find a dentist you and your daughter like, ask for pictures of the work they have done. Finally, do not leave the office if you are not satisfied; or better ask for a follow up so that after the tooth has rehydrated you and your doctor can make sure their is a compatible match. Best to you and your daughter! Dr. Summer Lerch

Answer: 13 year old chipped her front tooth Yes, a chipped permanent central incisor can be repaired in different ways. Because of her age, I would lean towards a resin composite that will not last as long as something lab generated. The reason is to allow your child's teeth to develop into their correct position. Around the age of 16 or order, a porcelain veneer can be considered. Good luck! Dr. David Frey

Answer: Diamond Sorry to see they broke their tooth. It is not uncommon to have these type of fractures. The best procedure to fix this now is to have a dentist place a composite to repair this area and make it look better. It is a cost effective method to take care of this considering your child's age. Most dentists can do this procedure. Once they are over 20 you will likely want to have a more permanent repair with a ceramic crown. Also, any time there is trauma to a tooth like this, your dentist should be watching for any type of problems with the nerve of the tooth in case a root canal treatment is warranted. Good luck!
