This is more common than you might think and there is a term to describe the "chin dimpling" you are referring to. In some patients, under projecting chins can result in a “mentalis strain” – i.e. dimpling of the chin and difficulty closing the lips, similar to what you described. If there is inadequate bony support for the mentalis muscle, it has to work overtime with mouth movements and can cause the dimpling you see. During my consultations I perform a simple facial analysis to determine if you have a projection deficiency. Typically your chin should be about 2mm behind your lip from the profile view. In my opinion you would benefit greatly from the results of a genioplasty to address the dimpling with a subtle but significant change.
