Cobblestones and general question after FUE beard transplant healing. 20 days post op. (photos)

Question

It's been 20 days since I went to a FUE beard transplant and shed most of my hairs by now. I noticed some cobblestones where my hairs got transplanted and, as far my concern goes after reading a lot of answers from Realself, this shouldn't be the case. I asked my doctor if they will fade overtime but insisted that "this is normal and a side effect from the procedure". Should I worry?, can this be fixed using a cream?, should I ask another dermatologist for further investigation?

I have never see a cobblestone appearance as a side effect after my beard transplants.I think the improper placement of the grafts or punch  created channels for graft implantation may be reasons for that appearance .

This could be a number of things from an improper implantation, an infection or even trapped ingrown hairs. You could be given an antibiotic, or even a topical steroidal cream. please go back to your hair restoration professional for an evaluation.

Apply a 1% hydrocortisone cream once per day at bedtime for 10 days. Allow the hair time to grow out fully. You should not have a noticeable problem.

Cobble-stoning and pitting is due to improper placement of grafts. Improper removal, handling and care while grafts are outside the body will affect graft survival. Cobble-stoning is not normal side effect if done properly. The slight redness may suggest a low grade infection, you may want to be assessed for that.

After everything has settled down, you should know if this is a problem. I always trim the FUE grafts to prevent this from happening.
