What is your timeline for revision if patient wasn't yours originally?

Hello doctors I was wondering what your timeline for breast implant exchange/ revision (to downsize) was if the patient didn’t come to you for the original surgery? I am seeing online doctors always saying 6 months for revision, however some doctors I have called will not even consult until I am 1 year post op. Is this normal? I do not want to wait 1+ years to downsize large heavy implants.

most surgeons will recommend you to wait until you are fully healed from primary surgery, so 6 months should be enough. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.

If you are at six months and you want to downsize, then you can. Plain and simple. There will be very little difference (less than 1%?) between 6 and 12 months.

Plastic surgeons usually say 6 months. However, if you have very large implants that are causing problems, you can be done in 3 months. Some say 1 year to make sure the patient is dissatisfied with the result.

It is best to give your tissue at least 6 months to heal before doing another elective surgery. Have you discussed this with your surgeon?

Best to discuss with your original doctor when they might wanna do an exchange. The standard is a range of between six months to one year, depending on so many other issues as type of augmentation was it done with a breast lift with any other surgeries accompanying the procedure therefore a virtual consultation or in person consultation as needed. Expect fees to range from $8000-$15,000.
