What's the best way to remove facial scars on African American?

I was hit by a drunk driver over 20 years ago and hospital did horrible job stitching me up. I'm at a point in life now where I'd like to have scars removed but not sure what the best treatment is. I understand that it's not possible to completely remove but wondering if it's possible to make them less visible? They are not keloid but believe they are hypertrophic?

There are many options available for scar revision depending on the type of scar that you have. 
Scar revision requires a disciplined approach to address the different characteristics of scars including texture, color, level of inflammation, vascularity, and hypertrophy. Our office specializes in scar revision because we have both cosmetic dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and general surgeons within our center. The ideal scar treatment is combination therapy that incorporates vascular lasers, microfractional RF and laser, microneedling, Micro-ionization ablation, PRP, topical growth serums and polysiloxane topical gels, and surgery if indicated. 
I recommend Melarase PM for patients that have dark and discolored scars and Plato’s Scar Serum twice daily for all new and hypertrophic scars prior to any treatment.

I'm sorry to hear about what happened. It's difficult to evaluate and assess your skin through this type of forum, but from what I can see, it looks like you have a keloid scars (raised or hypertrophic scars) and atrophic scarring (indentation). Treatment for keloid scars include topical prescription steroids, injections with a steroid, and surgical scar revision. As for atrophic scarring, any of the modalities that injure the skin with subsequent collagen formation such as fractionated laser, dermaroller, resurfacing lasers, deep peels, etc., may help your condition. I highly recommend you consult with a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon to have your skin evaluated and to discuss treatment options that best suit your needs.
