I am 2 weeks post gastric sleeve surgery and will need a Panniculectomy once fully healed. I already qualify for one now based on my anatomy and my surgeon and PCP expect the pannus is increase in size as more weight is lost. I'm wondering if the Panniculectomy also covers removal of skin in the mons pubis area or if I should expect to pay for that out of pocket.

Answer: Does a Panniculectomy include removal of skin in the mons pubis region? The paniculectomy involves only the removal of excess skin/fat that hangs over the genitals and/or thighs. No undermining takes place during the panniculectomy so the mons pubis may only be improved slightly.Kenneth Hughes, MD, ABPS Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Answer: Panniculectomy Dear Laurensic, in most cases, panniculectomy will be covered by an insurance and plastic surgeon.should remove the entire pannus. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.
