Does a Panniculectomy include removal of skin in the mons pubis region?

I am 2 weeks post gastric sleeve surgery and will need a Panniculectomy once fully healed. I already qualify for one now based on my anatomy and my surgeon and PCP expect the pannus is increase in size as more weight is lost. I'm wondering if the Panniculectomy also covers removal of skin in the mons pubis area or if I should expect to pay for that out of pocket.

Thank you for your question about what to do with the mons region after weight loss. Also, thank you for the question regarding whether the monsplasty is covered in panniculectomy. Technically, the monsplasty is NOT covered with a panniculectomy. A panniculectomy only involves the removal of the pannus or the hanging skin OVER the pubic region. A panniculectomy does NOT include the removal of the excess skin or fat of the pubic region. The monsplasty and the panniculectomy can be done at the same time and in my opinion, should be done at the same time. However these are discussion you need to have with your plastic surgeon BEFORE the panniculectomy. Thank you so much for your question.  A panniculectomy is a surgical procedure to remove just the pannus( "apron")-excess skin and tissue from the lower abdomen ONLY. On the other hands, If you want to achieve cosmetically pleasant results, you should consider Full Tummy Tuck with mons lift. Please see a qualified specialist in Cosmetic Surgery.

in most cases, panniculectomy will be covered by an insurance and plastic surgeon.should remove the entire pannus. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.
