Can a nipple be repaired that a piercing migrated/was rejected from? (photo)

Question

I had my nipple pierced over a year ago and I went to have the gauge changed. A couple months later I stared to notice that the hole was getting bigger on one side. Giving it more time the skin over the top was getting thinner. One day in the shower I saw the start of a split in the nipple. My nipple ended up splitting about 1/2 way across even without the jewelry in it. Is there a way to fix this? I’d like to get it relieved if possible.

It is hard to tell for sure without an examination, but based on your photos, it looks like you would benefit from a surgery. The vertical slit can be repaired by removal of the slit scar and suturing it back together.Best

This is not an uncommon issue.  Belly button and nipple piercings often get infected, skin thins and tears through.  It can be repaired and reshaped.  The procedure is usually done under local anesthesia.  You do end up with a scar on the nipple, but the shape can be corrected and the thin skin eliminated.  Seek out a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to help you with the procedure.
