Loss of elasticity in neck after microneedling. Is this possible and why?

I had my first microneedling session about 8 weeks ago with a technician who uses “SkinPen”. While I feel like it did work somewhat on my face - particularly my eyes area & cheeks - it seems to have made my neck look much worse. In lost elasticity in my neck. So my neck actually looks worse now. Why ??

Used appropriately, microneedling should not cause this. I recommend following up with a cosmetic dermatologist after care and skin care recommendations. A combination approach is needed to get the most improvement with skin tightening for the neck. I recommend J Plasma, lasers (Fraxel, Clear + Brilliant, Co2), microneedling/prp, ultherapy and rf treatments to get the best outcomes. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

Microneedling should not cause skin laxity in fact, it should tighten your skin as the micro-injury stimulates collagen and elastin. We suggest you follow up with a plastic surgeon's office that has a skin care  aesthetics center. Please remember to use a physical sunblock to protect your skin.  Hope this helps and good luck.
