Congratulations on having undergone an arm lift or brachioplasty. Currently, you are only four months from your arm lift revision. I would wait at least another two months before you do anything. In the meantime, I would suggest silicone cream, silicone tape, and continuing arm compression garments. In addition, you may want to consider laser treatment to the arm scar or even a derma pen. To determine if arm liposuction was performed during your arm lift or arm reduction (brachioplasty), please request for a copy of your operative report. In regards to the arm band, it is difficult to tell. If this arm band was present before your surgery, this can be difficult to treat. I believe this is arm band is a genetic or congenital condition. If this arm band was there before you had surgery, this arm band can be treated with very selective arm liposuction performed on each side of the arm band. If the arm band resulted after the arm lift surgery, then the arm band and scar may need to be released. This arm band and scar release can be difficult to perform and made make the scar more noticeable. What may be needed is what is called a z-plasty. To release the arm band and scar, a zigzag incision is made. Tissues are rearranged and release the tension in the arm band or scar tissue. The arm z-plasty works very well, however, the arm z-plasty may make for arm scars more noticeable. I hope this answers your question regarding your arm lift results and the possible need for rebision. For now, I would sit tight and do the conservative treatments mentioned above. In two months, I would revisit with your board-certified plastic surgeon and discuss possible revisions. Good luck! If you have any further questions regarding the arm lift, brachioplasty, arm reduction, arm liposuction, arm liposculpting, arm scar revision, or arm banding after an arm lift, please contact my office. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen
