Fat grafting under eyes 6 weeks post op. How long will it take for my eyes to go back to normal again?

Areas around eyes, in particular lower eyelids, are notorious for longer recovery, prolonged swelling and discoloration. It may take 2-3 months for these signs to resolve and disappear. Real result after fat grafting in this area is not seen sooner than 6-8 months. Diet low in salt, spices, no MSG, low alcohol intake are all very important for recovery. Patience and good luck.

Pictures would be very helpful.If you had significant bruising it can take quite a while for the skin color to return to normal as the bruise can stain the skin.  There are some lasers that can help speed up the process.  The fat may also be swollen still and this can cast a shadow which may make it look darker in some areas.  

in one sense going back to normal with defeat the purpose of the treatment.  In regards to color changes you have to make an assessment as to what the color changes are from.  At six weeks it's unlikely there are still bruising left. However, some of the hemoglobin from bruising can become hemosiderin deposits that can be very long lasting.  This usually doesn't happen and when it does it's usually after a significant amount of bruising.  Give it 3 to 6 months. At that point changes will be very slow if any.  With limited information you will get incomplete assessments.  I suggest discussing it with your provider in person.  Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
