Can discoloration from eczema be removed with laser treatment?

Question

I had a red rash that was not itchy under my right breast only. I thought it was a fungal infection but after talking to my dermatologist she said it was from eczema. She gave me some cream and soap free body wash. The redness is gone but there is skin discolouration under my right breast and on the lower part of the breast. My question is will a type of laser treatment or chemical peel remove this skin Discolouration? I’ve read many articles online but I’m still not clear. Please reply ASAP.

Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started.

Hyperpigmentation can be improved with a combination of Cosmelan, lasers, Aerolase, microneedling/prp, skin lightening, peels, and skin care. Sun protection is essential. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for your question. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation secondary to Eczema is best treated with tincture of time and vigorous moisturization with barrier repair creams.  Lasers will likely provide minimal improvement at great cost and while there may be someone willing to sell you that as a treatment it is neither the standard of care nor a good choice.
