Botox in the upper lip, can't smile normally, when will this go away?

Question

I have a very good injector but this time she did 2 tiny botox injections in my upper lip, and now I can't smile normally. It's not awful or lop-sided. It just doesn't look like me at all. My upper lip hangs over my upper teeth, which are now mostly obscured when I smile. She told me to ultrasound the area at home, will this help? I'm guessing not :( Will it wear off faster than 3-4 months because it's an area that moves a lot? Sad without smile.

I'm not sure when you had your treatment, but it can take 1-2 weeks for final results with Botox. Botox results resolve in 3-4 months. In the mean time, venus legacy treatments can soften results. Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for your question. Typically, it does take 3-4 months for Botox  to wear completely off. However, you had a rather small dose and it may be less. There’s no way to know for sure. Perhaps, your injector can give you some advice. Good luck! Dr. Aldo

Thank you for your question. A side effect of Botox into the lip is that your lip can come over your teeth. This happens because the muscle in the upper lip has been relaxed. Unfortunately, this will take 3-4 months to wear off. I recommend having a follow up with your injector for an evaluation. Best of Luck!

If a tiny amount of Botox was injected above your mouth, the result may wear off in about one month.  Repeated smiling may wear it off more quickly.

If you got botox in the upper lip, it will probably take about a month to go back to normal. Try messaging the lip, this might make it recover faster.

Injection into the lip with Botox works but side effects are very common. Your lip comes over your teeth because the muscle in the upper lip has relaxed and this sijmply has to wear off over a period of 3-4 months

Hi. I would recommend you smile often to stimulate that muscle and quicken the regaining strength of the muscle. In worst case the Botox will wear off in 3-4 months. In the future I would recommend you treat with a smaller dose so this issue does not reoccur. Best of luck!

Botox lip injections help with lip lines but may have an effect on lip movement and change your smile. In some cases, it resolves in a few weeks but may take 3 to 4 months. There is nothing to do but wait.
