Wearing hair clips and styling hair into a bun everyday can cause traction alopecia if either pull at the follicles at the hairline and edges. Traction alopecia, or “tension hair loss”, occurs when hair follicles are ripped from their roots, tearing at their structure. The baldness that results is permanent.
