Cheek Implant Removal After 2 Years, Will There Be Sagging?

Cheek implant removal will usually cause some sagging. I have always removed these and done a cheeklift at the same time. 

  If you are not happy with them, then the cheek implants can certainly be removed.  I am certain that whoever does this for youw ill take appropriate steps to prevent the cheeks from falling postop.  Good luck!

After only two years, the tissue surrounding the implant should return more or less to its previous shape.  Plus the implants have not been in place long enough to result in any bony changes.  The concerns you have regarding stretching would be more of an issue in an older patient. Please visit with a plastic surgeon who is skilled and knowledgeable about facial implants.  It is possible that you would be happier with a different shape or size implant.
 

You can remove the implants and the tissue may need to be tacked up to prevent sagging.You can fat graft later to plump them up and make them look better.

Thanks for your interesting question. It is hard to predict what things will look like after your surgery. Since it has only been 2 years, you would not expect too much fat loss in that area, which would contribute to sagging. Also, the skin in that area is quite lax to begin with and so the implants should not have stretched the skin out to the point where it should now sag. Again, predicting results without seeing before and after pictures and knowing the size of the implants would be difficult to do.
If you are unhappy with the appearance after removal of the implants, you may want to consider fat transfer to this area. It is a safe, short surgical procedure with very little downtime and much less invasive than the implant procedure. It may help give you the natural cheek augmentation you are trying to achieve. If you would like to know what that procedure may yield, you can have cheek filler done first to see if you like the result. If you do, you could then get the fat transfer once the body has dissolved the filler. Best of luck.

Removal of cheek implant is not as easy as placing them in . The determining factor is the type (silicone vs medpor) Also the implants tend to erode into the cheekbones and cause asymmetry. There will be sagging but some of that may contract due to your age and hopefully good skin quality.

Cheek implants removal after several years will result in some volume loss which may or may not be noticeable depending on their size and patient's tissue quality. If you are not happy with size, you may consider smaller implants or at least fat transfer to maintain some volume to your cheeks. Explantation is straight forward with experience surgeon.

 Rwemoval of silastic cheek implants are far easier than placement and I have been doing both for over 25 years.  In a young male, under 50, there should be no sagging after implant removal.  Hope this helps.

There may some relaxation of the skin after removal of the implants. This can be minimized by supporting the cheek tissue with tape after the surgery.  Recovery will be a lot quicker than after the original surgery. You may ultimately want to replace volume at a later date with fillers, fat injections or a smaller implant.
