I am interested in cheek and tear trough implants! I am 42, 5’ 10”, and 190 lbs. I am very active and very healthy, I workout 5 days a week. My face does not reflect that, I have dark circles under my eyes and also lost volume in my cheeks. I would like you to look at my attached pictures and give me your feedback. I am a mechanical engineer, I look for long term solutions and not quick fixes like fillers.I look forward to your reply and feedback!

Answer: Implants for Lower Eyelid Hollows and Cheek Bone Deficiency
For a long-term solution, infraorbital rim and cheek implants would provide the midface augmentation that you desire. There are different style and sizes of these implants so the selection must be done carefully. These type of implant are placed through a lower eyelid blepharoplasty incision and good attention is needed for proper implant placement, fixation and lower eyelid resuspension to have a satisfactory result.

Answer: Cheek augmentation
Cheek implants come in a variety of sizes and shapes and the best application is when the maxilla is quite flat and the cheek has lost volume. The cheek implants are composed of Silastic, are inserted through an intraoral approach during a brief outpatient procedure under general anesthesia.

Answer: Cheek implants; great / tear trough; not so good
Cheek implants are very useful for patients with inadequate 3-D volume, mid-face fat atrophy and/or both of the above. I find that the results I obtain with cheek implants are predictable and patient satisfaction is high. Tear trough implants are not in that category. the skin in this part of the face is much thinner and the implant boundaries can be visible at times. A much better approach to this problem is to use a SOOF lift blepharoplasty. As the originator of the SOOF lift blepharoplasty I can tell you that in my opinion this is the best procedure for improving the hollow look under the eyes that accompanies the aging process. I've been doing nothing but this procedure since I originally published this approach around 1999 in the Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery. The reason this approach works so well is that by doing this the patient's anatomy is returned to what it used to be when they were younger yielding natural looking results with little morbidity. Look at as many pre and post op photos of the surgeon you are interested in seeing as possible and make sure you like the results. Seek more than one opinion and see someone who performs the procedure you are interested in routinely. Preferably someone who specializes in facial aesthetic procedures.

Answer: I Am Interested in Cheek and Tear Trough Implants?
Aesthetically speaking, from the photos provided, the cheeks are quite flat. I am unimpressed with the severity or depth of the tear troughs however. I perform many Cheek Augmentations with Fillers (I prefer Perlane) and Cheek Implants.
Be certain that the plastic and cosmetic surgeon, that you select, to perform your Cheek Implant Surgery understands and follows the proper aesthetics of facial (and cheek) beauty for the creation of an angular, ruggedly handsome, masculine face. Creating more flare to the jawline is often another way to avhieve this goal along with Cheek Implants.
