Ultherapy can be tailored to your specific concerns and anatomy. A cookie cutter approach is not advisable over implants. We have found Ulthera to be an outstanding addition to our facelift and necklift patients. Raffy Karamanoukian, Los Angeles
Hi Bean, You are in luck! It is safe to undergo Ultherapy with jaw and cheek implants in place. We are able to visualize the implants with ultrasound and not treat directly over them. We have treated many patients with facial implants with excellent results. Good luck and be well. Dr. P
The advantage of Ultherapy is that it is a safe procedure in that physicians are able to view the structures below the skin prior to treating that area with the ultrasonic energy. We see the different layers with a monitor using ultrasound and a line is shown at what depth that particular transducer will reach. As long as the energy is targeted above the implant, there shouldn't be a problem with Ultherapy. I would not advise receiving an Ultherapy treatment directly over the implant, but the treatment could be done on areas of the cheek where the implant is not directly placed. It could also be performed on other areas such as the neck or forehead. In general, Ultherapy is not performed directly on the jaw, in part because the reflection of the heat is painful, but also because there are important nerves that we try not to treat directly over.
Ultherapy has the unique benefit that we can actually see what we are treating! As long as you implants are not in the plane of treatment, you should be totally safe. Just make sure your provider is aware of these implants before you begin your treatment. Good luck!
Bruising is rare and is definitely not a prerequisite for a good result with Ultherapy for facial lifting. Swelling does occur in some patients more than others, but to-date there is no scientifically proven approved concept that significant swelling is needed for a good result with...
General guidlines is one to two treatments apporximatly six months appart. Doing it more fregeuenly is not necessarilly beneftitial,as the wound healing process takes months to appreicate the full effect. Repeating the procedure yearly, although the data is not there probably would be of ...
Bruising has been reported but this is rare, and it should not cause any significant problems with healing.
