Dermatitis following IPL. Damage done?

Thank you for your questions, IPL is used to treat a wide variety of skin problems. The vitamin C serum is recommended after having the treatment done, to assist in the healing process. From what you are describing it doesn't sound like any damage was done by the inflammatory response. Thank you for this question. IPL treatment improves the appearance of sun damaged skin, removes age spots (sun-induced freckles), most benign brown pigments, and redness caused by broken capillaries through a process called photo rejuvenation for face and body. Since your contact was from a topical medication and not the sun this would not effect your treatment with IPL. If you are still getting the the facial rash please return to your provider and address the concern to them as you may have a truly allergy to the Vit C serum. 

Vitamin C serums are often applied post IPL or other semi ablative lasers, as there are many studies showing this to be helpful for recovery. Some people can get irritation from it, although this is very, very rare.
