I am still pink from IPL 8 weeks ago, is there something wrong with me?

I recommend an in-person evaluation with your doctor. Stretch marks need a combination approach for improvement. I recommend a combination of microneedling/prp, lasers (Erbium, Fraxel Laser, Excel V, Pulsed Dye Laser, laser genesis, yellow laser) or radiofrequency devices like intensif, fractora, skinfinitiy, venus viva. Stretch marks can't be officially “cured" and it will take a combination approach and consistent treatment to see great results. IPL sessions can be spaced out as early as 3-4 weeks depending on your healing progress. Pink tones with the skin can be normal but without in-person examination or knowing your IPL settings, it would be difficult for any expert to assess. If you are still pink and concerned about your stage of healing, I would advise following up with your Aesthetician to discuss expectations of your treatment progress and ensure that your skin is not experiencing any unwarranted pigment changes. Best, Dr. Anil Shah

Typiically IPL treatments are used for vascular or pigmented issues. Fractional lasers are more typically chosen for stretch mark or scar treatments. It is usual for these to require several treatments for results.  Without pictures, it is difficult to answer your questions fully. Additionally if you have moved and are now looking to work with a different provider, i would discuss your concerns prior to any further treatments especially if they are using a different IPL/Laser therapy. You should have an in person evaluation by your new physician.

It is difficult to assess your concern without pictures and more info on the IPL setting. As a rule of thumb, in my experience with IPL for over 20 years, IPL works well for vascular marks and skin discoloration. If you had IPL to correct stretch marks than you need to have at least 3-4 sessions spaced at 3 week intervals. If you are trying to correct stretch marks scars, IPL is not the treatment of choice. I prefer either fractional laser resurfacing or microneedling with PRP.
