Jowls at 25? Would filler be an option? (photos)

Question

I've always had bigger cheeks growing up which I'm fine with! I actually love them. But as I've gotten into my mid-20s I've noticed I have jowls and they really bother me. What options are there to get rid of them or lesson them? Would filler be an option? I already have a dense face and have plenty big checks so I don't want to look puffy. I feel like a healthy 25 year old of a healthy weight shouldn't have to worry about jowls! It's definitely more genetic than anything.

most of my younger clients use fillers to give them shaping especially on the cheeks, jawline, and chin which make the face look more slim and tight; and threads such as PDO or Instalift can build collagen and support the facial shaping and skin looseness over time, slowing down the aging process and given the face a more “snatched” look; and morpheus deep microneedling RF can tighten crepe skin especially on the neck and jawline and is great for long term tightening of the full face, neck and chest; its often used to give the face a slimmer more sculpted look because it tightens the skin and gives lift.  an early face lift can be performed as well even in younger clients if they want a different facial shape, maxillofacial surgery with bone breaking or shaving can also be done.

There are a few facial exercises that can help reduce the appearance of jowls. Jowls are usually harmless but to make them better you can definitely go in for fillers. Fillers can give dramatic results without pain, it gives shape to cheeks, jawline, and chin thus making the face look slimmer and tighter. Based on your photos, I think a gentle filler around the jowls could do the trick for you. Make sure you consult a very experienced plastic surgeon.

Agreeing that the issue you are noticing is a result of congenital buccal fat, there are several things I would point out and have you consider. First, you are young so it’s good that you are wanting to address this before it changes the integrity of the skin that is starting to displace from the heaviness. You have a nice slender chin shape so I would not get crazy with filling too much in the area of the prejowl sulcus and marionette area though as you get older you like most will need. I wouldn’t advise for the excision surgery either if you can avoid. I personally would try Evoke which is a new non-invasive RF device with a cheek/jawline applicator. With correct settings, treatment time, and number of treatments I believe you could get the reduction in fat tissue and tightening of the skin and underlying tissues to give you that slenderize lower cheek and definition along the jawline that you desire. Hi, I had a chance to review your questions and pictures. You are correct, facial features are way more genetic than they are aging at times. Based on your pictures, I think a little gentle filler around the jowls could help soften and hide the shadows created by your jowls and cheeks. You may also hear about a new "trend" of buccal fat pad excision to give that "chiseled cheeks" appearance. I caution you from obtaining a procedure like this. It will help you in the short term by slimming your face/cheeks but will cause issues 20 years from now by making you look considerably more aged than your actual appearance. I rarely place filler in the jowl area since it makes most people look older. However, correcting your congenital depression is an exception. I would use Juvederm Voluma to reduce the pre jowl depression and Vollure to correct the marionette area. The other option is fat grafting to the area, since it is congenital fat distribution causing your problem. Make sure you see a very experienced injector.
