Hyperpigmentation and irritation around mole - can Mole Removal be done with surgery? (photo)

Question

I was an idiot earlier in the year and tried to remove a mole with apple cider vinegar and ended up not really doing anything to yhe mole but I’ve had pigmentation around the mole and I’ve tried almost everything to get rid of it. Sometimes it looks fine and then if I touch it or do anything random it gets super red and irritated. I have to cover it with makeup during the day but I just want to know if anything can be done to fix it. https://i.imgur.com/FOXAIJV.jpg

Mole removal begins with a comprehensive examination and consultation to determine the likelihood of a mole being worrisome. Excisional and incisional biopsies are reserved for suspicious moles. But it’s good news that most moles are not problematic and are only cosmetic, thus leading to the option of scarless or non-surgical mole removal with lasers and RF and plasma. I recommend getting an in-person formal evaluation with a board-certified cosmetic dermatologist. Moles can be removed with a laser, radiowave or shave. If there is any scarring or pigmentation following the removal, your dermatologist can treat those conditions as well. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for your question and photograph. It's difficult to evaluate your skin through this type of forum. Moles can be removed a couple ways. A shave biopsy can be done but would leave a round indented scar, or an excision where the mole is excised and sutures are put into place yielding a line as a scar. I highly recommend you consult with a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon to have your mole evaluated and to discuss appropriate treatment options. Take care and good luck.
